about

About this track: The 52-hertz whale is an individual whale of unidentified species, which calls at the very unusual frequency of 52 Hz. (wikipedia)

lyrics

She is a large whale
Saltwater Clydesdale
The stuff of folktales,
but this is true

In the north Pacific
to be specific
Is a terrificly lonely whale

She’s called the 52 hertz whale
because of her off-key song
The other whales don’t get her
She’ll never belong

You see most whale calls
are dull and banal
Predictable and bland

But this whale’s song
she does it all wrong
she’s had a life-long, fear
of being misunderstood

The blue whale, 10-39 Hz
The fin whale, 20 Hz
Our whale, 52 Hz

Since 1989
we hear her weeping in the brine
a one-whale chorus line
the loneliest whale in the world
