Dirt:You can start with this one thing
Or something brown and dry
to provide the carbon
But it’s not the only thing

Then come scraps of food
Something colorful and gooey
Or something green like leaves
That will add some nitrogen
But that’s not the only thing

This is an ode to compost
You can make it at your house
You can do it with your family
You can make some with your spouse
This is an ode to compost
Your garden veggies will agree
If you want soil that’s dark and moist
Then listen carefully

Air: cuz even compost needs to breathe
It needs some oxygen
For the decomposition
But it’s not the only thing

Water: some call it H2O
In just the right amount
Will keep the party going
And going

Worms: you make it so much better
With your squirmy little dance
You make composting a party
You make composting romance

Poop: from the horses or the cows
From the chickens or the piggies
Team up with microorganisms
There are so many
